We all know that backpackers move from one city to another city. They do not really stay in one place for a long time. It’s like they are just coming to see the place for a day or two day visit. If you are going to get a place to stay in Ho Chi Minh City, I suggest you to choose a hotel that is not very close to the city proper. The room fees are higher the closer you are in the city.

What backpackers see in Ho Chi Minh City

One of the tourist attractions that a backpacker must check is the Cu Chi Tunnels. It would be nice to experience crawling along this underground connected tunnels. These tunnels played a very important role in the History of Vietnam during the Wars. In the 1960s, the Viet Cong soldiers used these long tunnels to hide from the Americans who kept bombing them. And then, because of these tunnels, many people were saved, given shelter and food. It is a historical place and now was turned as a tourist attraction for people to recognize its worth.

They backpackers also come and enjoy cruising along the floating markets of the Mekong Delta. Here, you can experience a very simple lifestyle, trading on the boats, food and of course, the beauty of the Mekong River. When you come here, you have to be very early because if the sun is too high, then it will be very hot. Another thing, it would be nice to cruise the river with the small boats, so that you can enjoy the landscape and scenery of the place.

Many backpackers also come and visit the Reunification Palace or the Independence Palace. It is the place, where the war ended.

Another is the War Remnants Museum, where you can find devastating photos taken during the Wars. This is a place for people who would like to know more about the Vietnam and the American Wars.

These backpackers also come and visit the China Town where they can find colorful temples in Cholon. Another good thing here is to experience the delicious Chinese delicacies on the streets.

Lastly, these backpackers come and visit the Jade Emperor Pagoda or Phuoc Hai, which the Cantonese built in the 20th century. This is actually one of the most beautiful work of architecture in Ho Chi Minh City.
